VictimsFirst Begins Distribution of 100% of Donations To Victims Families/Survivors of the Apalachee High School Shooting

For immediate release

Winder, Georgia — December 13, 2024

VictimsFirst, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring transparency and fairness in victim support, is proud to announce the distribution of 100% of the $154,000 collected for the victims of the tragic Apalachee High School shooting. The funds are being disbursed directly to the families of the deceased and the survivors who were wounded in the tragedy, with no administrative costs or fees deducted.

The financial gifts are being distributed as follows:

  • $19,000.00 each to the families of the four deceased victims, providing critical support in their time of unimaginable loss.

  • $18,000.00 to the one catastrophically wounded survivor, whose ongoing recovery requires substantial resources.

  • $10,000.00 each to the six wounded survivors, assisting with medical expenses, emotional healing, and other immediate needs.

“VictimsFirst ensures that 100% of donations collected go directly to those who need it most,” said Dr. Zachary Blair, President/CEO of VictimsFirst. “In the aftermath of tragedy, it’s essential to prioritize the needs of those most directly impacted, and we are committed to operating with complete transparency and accountability.”

The Apalachee High School shooting left an indelible mark on the Winder community, and VictimsFirst extends its deepest condolences to the families whose loved ones were murdered and its support to those injured in the attack.

This victims’ fund is the only centralized fund that was set up for victims' families and wounded survivors and was made possible by generous donations from individuals across the country who believe in standing with victims to ensure that their voices and needs remain at the center of every effort.

VictimsFirst continues to advocate for ethical practices in victim support, emphasizing that every penny collected should benefit those who bear the heaviest burdens after mass tragedies. For more information about VictimsFirst and its mission, please visit victimsfirst.org.
